Teacher
Katherine Orloff received her formative training at the Contra Costa Ballet Centre, with additional studies at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, North Carolina School for the Arts, and the University of California, Irvine. Professionally, she’s performed repertoire by George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Donald McKayle, Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor and Antony Tudor. She holds a BA in English, an MA in Liberal Arts, and recently completed her MFA in Dance. She is currently pursuing her somatic educator certification through the School for Body-Mind Centering® and is studying Authentic Movement under the mentorship of Mary Lou Seereiter. Katherine believes that how we move in the studio shapes and extends our social possibility outside the classroom as well. Through her teaching, she aims to build the kind of trust, self-worth, and connectedness that we need to be in community with one another and move in our variety.
