Amy Foley

AMY FOLEY is a dance-maker, teaching artist, performer, and the artistic director of Bellwether Dance Project. Originally from Alaska, she is a long-time, active member of the San Francisco Bay Area dance community. A member of Robert Moses' KIN for over a decade, Amy also has performed locally and nationally as a member of ODC/Dance, Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, Project Agora, Mary Carbonara Dances, Shift Physical Theater, project b., RAWdance, KAMBARA+DANCERS, and with choreographer Nol Simonse. She has enjoyed teaching technique to all ages and levels around the Bay Area and through master classes across the the country (Stanford University, Colorado State University, Slippery Rock University, The Colorado College); Amy has enjoyed teaching/choreographing at Summer Rhatagin’s, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance; Alonzo King’s LINES Dance Center; and the Academy of Ballet. She currently teaches ongoing contemporary technique classes at ODC Dance Commons. Through Bellwether Dance Project, Amy collaborates with dancers and other admired artists to delve into the ways individuals, particularly women and girls, make meaning. Amy has created works for Robert Moses’ KIN, the LINES Ballet summer intensive, the ODC Dance Jam, and the ODC Pilot Program. Bellwether Dance Project has shown work in the WestWave Festival(s), CONCEPT Series, PUSH/fest, Dance Mission’s Choreographer’s Showcase, SAFEhouse for the Arts, Grace Cathedral (Bay Area Performing Arts Festival), Hosfelt Gallery San Francisco (with visual artist Julie Chang), and SPF10. Amy is the co-creator of SEAM (support and elevate artist mothers), a concert and programming in support of women’s leadership in the dance field. She is a 2017 Lead Artist in the Resident Artist Workshop (RAW) at SAFEhouse for the Performing Arts and 2018 recipient of MJDC’s CHIME mentorship award.
