About this class

Pointe Work Our Pointe Work Program is designed for dedicated ballet students who have developed the strength, alignment, and technical foundation required for dancing en pointe. Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, dancers will safely progress through the art of pointe work while developing strength, precision, artistry, and confidence. Students will focus on proper pointe shoe technique, foot and ankle strengthening, balance, placement, alignment, turns, jumps, center work, and classical repertoire. Emphasis is placed on injury prevention, correct body mechanics, musicality, and the refinement of classical ballet technique. To accommodate dancers at every stage of their development, The Grand Academy of Ballet offers three levels of pointe training: Beginner Pointe – Introduction to pointe work, foot strengthening, proper placement, barre exercises, and basic center work. Intermediate Pointe – Builds strength and endurance while introducing more challenging combinations, turns, center exercises, and classical repertoire. Advanced Pointe – Designed for experienced dancers focusing on advanced technique, artistry, virtuosity, variations, and professional-level pointe work. Prerequisite: Students enrolled in Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, or Advanced Ballet are required to attend their corresponding ballet technique class immediately before participating in Pointe Work. Regular ballet class is essential for proper warm-up, technical preparation, and the safe development of pointe technique. Recommended For: Dedicated ballet students with instructor approval who have demonstrated sufficient technical proficiency, strength, and maturity for pointe training.
