About this class

It is recommended that students have taken at least 1-3 years of ballet and are able to take the ballet technique classes from 5:15-6:45 PM before this workshop, so that students are warm and can get straight to working on turns. This special workshop is for ballet students who want to improve the technique of their turns. We will focus on exercises designed to better understand and develop skills needed for a clean execution of pirouettes. Students will get personalized feedback, as every body and level of experience is different and the needs of each individual may vary. We will work on spotting, coordination of the arms and legs, proper alignment of the body, and tips on how to feel more comfortable while turning. In Beginner Turns Workshops we will clarify concepts like en dehors and en dedans (inside and outside turns) as well as preparation and landing for pirouettes from 5th, 4th and 2nd positions. To get the most out of this workshop participants must have at least one year of consistent Ballet training, be able to balance and promenade in passé position for 8 counts and able to balance in passé for at least two counts on demi pointe. This workshop (Beginner Turns) is not recommended for participants who just started their Ballet journey a few months ago.
